IdleHour Braveheart
|
|---|
A little history: many years ago, Marilyn Webster, owner of IdleHour, came with her star stallion to a Jack LeGoff clinic at Morven Park. I owned a Cleveland Bay mare, and was a great fan of the breed. I introduced myself, and as anyone who has ever met Marilyn, she is now your friend in a Nano second! Especially if you talk about Cleveland Bay horses, hunting, and Kenyan safaris! I have bought four horses of Marilyn’s, only two from her directly, the other two from prior owners. Many of my hunting friends have seen my Cleveland Bays, from the Waterford I bred, to Duchess, Mattie, and now Barbie*. I have been asked a number of times about where I can get a horse like that. I have decided to help Marilyn market the last of her horses. You see, Marilyn, like so many of us is getting older, and the breeding operation is just too much work. She has several retired broodmares, two active stallions, and several very nice young horses. I will try to help you find the right fit, and in the process, help Marilyn find the right homes for her very nice horses. One stallion,*Rambler’s Richard Lionheart, who is Barbie’s sire, is for sale. He is a stunning mover, and throws really super movers. One of the sale horses, IdleHour Braveheart, is Barbie’s full brother. He should be just like her, calm, sweet, good mover, and athletic. Another by Richard is Bayonet, a pure bred gelding, has been out hunting. Peter Cook, a CB breeder, thinks Bayonet is smashing! Freddie ,or IdleHour Frederik, a partbred, also by Richard, has been backed. Yorkie, Rambler’s son, is putting some beautiful horses out. My Mattie is by IdleHour Yorktown, and is the sweetest, calmest mare you could possibly own. Yorktown has hunted a lot, and is the perfect gentleman. Idle Hour Derby Day, a nice young gelding, already backed, is by Yorkie. Braveheart is going to be three this spring, but Derby Day and Freddy will be four.
Not to be counted out, the tall gorgeous mare, Banbury Cross, by Yorktown, is out of one of Marilyn’s fantastic TB mares, Velvet. Banbury will knock the ball out of the park, regardless of where she goes, hunting, showing, dressage. This is an elegant mare, and one Marilyn calls her forever horse. The old lady of the group of sale horses is pure bred Oleana. She is by *Rambler’s Renown, out of *Holmside Spring Rose, one of my favorite pure mares in Marilyn’s stable. A super foxhunter, Oleana, foaled Bayonet about 5 years ago. She is calm, quiet, & a good jumper. I guess that about says it for most Clevies, tho. Whether you are looking for a calm trail horse, or upper level competition horse, or a foxhunter, one of these is the ticket. I call Clevies the ultimate Baby Boomer horse, since they are so sensible, calm, easy to take care of, and just great all around animals, who give you nothing but a good time and lots of love.
If any of these wonderful horses catch your eye or imagination, please contact me for prices, and for more information. We can make arrangements to see the horses in Pennsylvania (a very pretty 1.5 hour drive from here), or if need be bring something to my barn to be viewed.

Not shown are the broodmares, but if you are looking for one, let me know. One, part bred Mzuri Sana, 8, is in foal to Bayswater, a pure stallion, owned by Katie Jordan, and standing in Fauquier Co. You may want to buy this foal in utero (it will be a 3/4 bred), or maybe as a weanling next fall. In order to see the pictures of the famous stallions, go to www.clevelandbay.org . Also, a list of the sale horses is on www.Dreamhorse.com.
